If you have gorgeous cabinets in your home that you love, then you most likely want to take great care of them. You want them to continue looking like new so that they retain their value and their beauty. Thankfully, there is a variety of things that you can do to ensure that your cabinets look just how you want them to. This article will discuss 3 tips for keeping your kitchen cabinets looking like new.
Oil Them Regularly
There are several oils out there that are made specifically for wood. This oil is created to keep wood looking shiny and bright and soaks right into the wood without causing any damage. To apply the wood oil to your cabinets, you will want to use a washcloth. You pour or spray a decent amount of the oil onto the washcloth, and then spread it evenly over the entire surface of the cabinet or cupboard. Be sure that you cover the entire area, or else you will have dry spots that are unsightly. This oil will take a few days to soak into the wood, but will remain shiny for a bit longer. You can choose to oil your cabinets weekly or monthly, depending on the type of wood that they are made of and what your preference is.
Use Melamine Foam To Remove Marks
If you have light colored cabinets, then scuff marks and other marks will generally accumulate and show up quite easily. Often times washing these marks off with a washcloth will not work because you need something that is a bit stronger. A piece of melamine foam is great for removing these marks because it has more scrubbing abilities than a washcloth. You can simply scrub the area that has the mark, and it will come off. Just be sure that you don't scrub the area too hard or you may also remove the paint or stain on your wood.
Use Liners For Your Drawers and Shelves
To preserve the inside of your cabinets, cupboards, and drawers, you can go ahead and line them. This liner is generally made out of a thick plastic material, and can either come as a solid or a plastic piece with holes in it. You will then place all of the items that you put in these areas on top of the liner. It will protect the interior wood from scratches, marks, water stains, and more. The plastic is also cheap and can be found at most grocery stores, so that won't be a problem either.
